A volunteer Beautification committee comprised of Rick Buford, Stacey Bowen, Cindy and Jeff Semach and Kathy Luedke met several times earlier this year to consider ideas for neighborhood projects that would have an overall appeal to most neighbors, be visible and add value to the neighborhood.
Although many were considered, two ideas were presented to the HOA board for approval. The first was fixing the irrigation issues inside the “Welcome to Town Creek” monument planter on Whitehurst and installing shade loving, evergreen plants. The irrigation system has been inspected and a soaker hose has been installed. The next step is to pick the right plants for the area.
The second idea presented to the board is to make the large meadow area between the two creek paths off Middle Downs a usable space. This would include an initial clean out of the area, installation of large rocks for sitting or climbing and decomposed granite around rocks to keep weeds away. Bat and/or Martin houses would be installed to help control mosquitos and wildflower seeds would be planted for spring beauty. Many neighbors use this area as an entry point to the creek already. It is easily accessible from Middle Downs.
We need help with these projects! First, we are looking for a group with an eye for plants to collaborate and determine the best plants for the monument planter.
Second, we are looking for folks to work on the “Meadow” project. We need a landscape architect (or similar skillset) to help design the space. We also need a group of 5-10 people who would like to work on this project through completion. From planning to installation, we need help!

Thank you in advance!
