Crime Watch Report August 2017

Hello Town Creek Residents!

Good news for the month of August! We had ZERO official crimes in the area!

Even though there were no any official crimes in the neighborhood in August, there were still plenty of suspicious persons calls and people identified as having no good reason to be in the area. For whatever reason, when school is in session there tend to be more crimes and or incidents in the neighborhood. There are people that walk through the neighborhood day and night looking for easy opportunities and they found plenty during the spring and early summer months. Please do not make it easy for them.  Keep all of your doors and windows locked, yard gates locked, garage doors closed, and please park your cars in the garage overnight if possible.

Calls to Crime Watch Officers in August:

  • Suspicious Persons 25
  • Suspicious Persons Located and Asked to Leave 12
  • Open Garage Doors 0
  • False Alarm 0
  • Nuisance in the area 4

Other notable incidents in the neighborhood:

8/2 There was a call to our patrol officers regarding a person stealing mail just outside our patrol area

8/10 There was a report of gunshots fired in the area near Atherton

8/15 A resident called to report a fake “IRS Investigator” call

8/16 A suspicious man with a clipboard was following the mailman

8/16 Another resident called to report a fake “IRS Investigator” call

Several door-to-door solicitors have been identified in the area and were found noncompliant regarding required permits and allowable hours of operation. Those identified by our patrol officers have been asked to leave the neighborhood. This continues to be a problem in the area.

Please never hesitate to call the Crime Watch officers or 911 to report suspicious activity. Notifying Crime Watch or 911 of suspicious activity can help prevent problems before crimes are committed, and it sends a message to any people with bad intentions that this is not a neighborhood for criminal opportunity.
